Terri Smith
Teacher, Board Member, and Philanthropist
Terri was an educator and Head Tutor for The Odyssey School, a private specialty school for children with language-based learning differences. She still provides workshops and mentors new teachers at the school and is a board member active in the Outreach Committee. She sits on the University of Delaware Dean’s Advisory Board for Education and helps promote “Teachers of Tomorrow,” a program that encourages diverse students to apply to Delaware in
the education department.
Terri has three children, Brendan, Meghan and Andy. Andy was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was eight years old. There were many challenges with frequent medication changes, managing daily plans and activities, and regular doctor appointments. His life changed after being seen by Dr. Sperling and his surgical team at Jefferson Hospital. His surgical team
successfully operated and cured him of his seizure disorder in 2016. Andy is happily married and has a productive, seizure free life in California.
Terri and her husband Bob have supported epilepsy fellows at Jefferson Hospital and helped to fund the new Electrophysiology Lab. In addition, they have funded research through the Epilepsy Foundation.
