12-Day Campaign to Increase Congressional Cosponsors for S.494 / H.R.1189

Calling ALL Epilepsy Action Network Partners

Please join a two week (3/23-4/3) effort to increase signers to the National Plan for Epilepsy  (S. 494/H.R. 1189). This is a concentrated, time-bound effort designed to demonstrate unified national support and drive measurable growth in cosponsors. Showing significant bipartisan support is necessary to advance the bill.

Two weeks. One message. One unified community.

With coordinated effort, we can demonstrate broad, cross-stakeholder support and move the National Plan for Epilepsy closer to passage during this critical legislative window.

Why Now

In an election year, the most productive legislative window is now through early June. By summer, Congressional attention increasingly shifts toward reelection activity.

This is the moment for visible, unified action.

The Campaign Ask & Structure

Ask: All outreach should use the same clear request: Please cosponsor S.494 / H.R.1189 to establish a National Plan for Epilepsy.

While all Members of Congress are important targets, priority focus should include members of Congress who are on the House Energy & Commerce Committee and the Senate HELP Committee. These Committees have jurisdiction over the legislation and are in a position to advance the bill. Organizations are encouraged to leverage existing relationships with these Members of Congress.

Toolkit & Support

The campaign toolkit is HERE and including:

●      30-second call script

●      Email templates (leader/clinician/family)

●      Pre-drafted social media graphics and posts

●      Congressional lookup tool guidance (e.g., VoterVoice)

EAN is available to support brainstorming and tailoring activities for each organization. Contact kcollins@g2gconsulting.com or Ilene Penn at ilenepennmiller@gmail.com for assistance.
